Temperatures across Jammu and Kashmir are likely to remain around 3 to 4 degrees Celsius above normal until the end of August, with only a slight change in minimum temperatures expected during the period, the Meteorological Department said.
The MeT forecast a modest rise in daytime temperatures over the coming days, while minimum temperatures may fluctuate slightly but are not expected to record any significant decline before the end of August.
“Day temperatures are likely to rise slightly in the coming days,” an official said.The official said minimum temperatures could fall marginally but added that no substantial drop was expected until the end of August.
A more noticeable change in the weather pattern is expected from September, with both maximum and minimum temperatures likely to begin declining from the first or second week of the month across Jammu and Kashmir.
“From the first week of September or second week of September onwards, a fall in temperatures, both maximum and minimum, can be seen across Jammu and Kashmir,” the official said.
The MeT said the immediate weather outlook remained largely stable, with no indication of a prolonged spell of rain. Isolated brief showers may occur, particularly during the early morning and late afternoon or evening hours.
Parts of south Kashmir and the Jammu division may experience brief but intense showers over the coming days, while the broader seasonal decline in temperatures is expected only from September.
